Product Introduction
HDPE steel‑wire mesh reinforced composite pipe (SRTP) is a pressure pipeline composed of high-density polyethylene (HDPE) and a high‑strength steel‑wire mesh skeleton.
The pipe features HDPE as both the inner and outer layers, with a high‑strength steel wire mesh serving as the reinforcing skeleton. A high‑performance adhesive bonds the steel wire reinforcement to the HDPE, ensuring tight integration. The wire mesh structure enhances the pipe’s pressure resistance, stiffness, and dimensional stability, while the HDPE inner and outer layers provide excellent corrosion resistance, chemical‑resistance, and a smooth internal surface.
Compared with conventional solid-wall HDPE pipes, the steel‑wire‑reinforced structure can meet higher pressure ratings and more demanding engineering requirements; compared with traditional steel pipes, HDPE’s inner and outer layers offer excellent corrosion resistance, while the pipe itself is lighter, facilitating transportation and installation.
HDPE steel‑wire mesh‑reinforced composite pipes are suitable for high‑pressure water supply and drainage, slurry and tailings transportation in mining operations, industrial fluid conveyance, chemical media handling, oilfield applications, and other transport systems requiring high strength and corrosion resistance.
Product Features
1. High pressure-bearing capacity
The steel wire mesh skeleton provides additional structural reinforcement to the pipe, enhancing its pressure‑bearing capacity and making it suitable for high‑pressure fluid transport and complex engineering environments. Products with varying structures and pressure ratings can cover the full range of pressures in the PN series.
2. Steel–Plastic Composite Structure
High-strength steel wire mesh is tightly laminated with HDPE, preserving the corrosion resistance of the plastic pipe while enhancing its strength, stiffness, and dimensional stability.
3. Excellent corrosion resistance
Both the inner and outer surfaces of the pipe are made of HDPE, while the steel‑wire reinforcement layer is encapsulated by a polymer coating, effectively isolating the conveyed medium from the external environment. It is suitable for water, chemical media, mineral slurries, and other corrosive environments.
4. Smooth inner wall, low flow resistance
HDPE features a smooth, even inner surface that resists scaling and fouling, thereby reducing frictional resistance during fluid transport and helping to maintain high conveying efficiency.
5. Excellent impact resistance and deformation resistance
The steel-wire-reinforced skeleton enhances the pipe’s stiffness, impact resistance, and dimensional stability, making it better suited to complex underground and industrial conveying environments.
6. Relatively lightweight
Compared with conventional steel pipes, steel‑wire mesh‑reinforced composite pipes are lighter in weight while meeting the required engineering performance, making them easier to transport, handle, and install on site.
7. Good flexibility
The wire mesh-reinforced structure, while enhancing strength, retains a degree of flexibility, enabling it to accommodate ground settlement, topographic variations, and pipeline displacement within certain limits.
8. Reliable Connection
Depending on the product configuration and project requirements, electrofusion welding, flanged connections, or compatible mechanical connections may be used. Electrofusion welding provides a continuous, leak‑tight joint; however, installation must strictly adhere to the applicable welding procedures and specifications for the respective product.
9. Wide range of applications
It can be used in mining tailings, mineral slurries, industrial water systems, water supply and drainage, chemical process media, oilfield applications, and other high-pressure fluid‑transport systems. Steel‑wire‑reinforced PE composite pipes have also been employed for mine backfilling and tailings pipeline projects.
